Weekly Classes

Thangka Painting Class for Continuing Students

Mondays, 6:30-8:00 pm

Suggested donation: $10; Tsa Tsa Studio members free.

This is an ongoing class for students who have previously taken at least one of Ang Tsherin's beginner's thankga painting classes and want to continue their studies. While Tsherin is away in Nepal, students will practice and study together and work on their individual projects.

Introduction to Tsa Tsa Casting & Painting

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm

Suggested donation: $10; Tsa Tsa Studio members free.

In this fun introductory class, members of the public are invited to learn how to make and paint tsa tsas. Participants will be taught tsa tsa casting using a simple mix of white hydrostone and water and a basic form of the prayers and meditation used in tsa tsa practice. After casting, you will be shown how to beautifully paint a variety of tsa tsas. By the end of the evening, you will be able to take home your very own Buddhas! (Note that if you choose to make larger tsa tsas, they may need to cure and be painted the following week.) No prior experience needed; everyone welcome.

Tsa Tsa Casting & Meditation Practice

Thursdays, 6:30-8:00 pm

Suggested donation $10; members free.

This class is for those who would like to learn the full tsa tsa practice, with all of the prayers and mantras, or for those who have previously taken the introductory class and want to go more deeply into the practice. Students will learn how to cast tsa tsas using the Forton MG casting system - a high-quality compound that is used to make all of the tsa tsas available through the Studio's gift shop and web site. (Note that the tsa tsas made in this class will not be ready til the following week.)
